Perpetuity Giving

An endowment is a permanent monetary investment in which the principal gift is never touched, but interest earned goes directly to feeding our neighbours in need.

Edmonton’s Food Bank has a permanent endowment with the Edmonton Community Foundation. You may choose to donate any amount directly to Edmonton’s Food Bank’s endowment fund and receive a tax receipt for your contribution. Alternatively, you may set up your own private endowment.

We are also fortunate to be the beneficiaries of a number of private endowments that are dedicated to helping us in the fulfillment of our mission.

Donors often find that their gift helps to encourage a family tradition of philanthropy. Endowment gifts provide an opportunity to engage family and friends in our community. Contributions to the fund can be made on behalf of that hard-to-buy-for person, or to celebrate special occasions. An endowment gift will establish a legacy of giving.

Your private endowment begins with an investment of $10,000. This investment can be made in one lump sum, or over a period of ten years. Once this $10,000 total has been reached the fund will begin assisting those facing food insecurity. Each year, a percentage of the fund will be distributed to help us achieve our goals. With one gift, the impact of each investment can be felt for generations.
