The annual Girl Guides Hike for Plenty food drive happened again in spring 2019. The guides collected non-perishable food donations door-to-door to help feed Edmontonians in need. A total of 6,643 kg of food was collected. It took place in select neighbourhoods in the city, in support of Edmonton’s Food Bank.
Courtney Rieder, who is a team member with Hike for Plenty says, “our girls are leaders. They’re born leaders and we want them to be kind. We want them to be generous and they are. We take them to the food bank and we volunteer. That attitude about giving back leads to strong leadership skills in the future and being generous with their time and kind to others.”
