Retail Food Program

Our name, Edmonton Gleaners Association, is from our original mandate "to glean" or gather surplus food to share with people in need.

Our Retail Partners:

Join our network of partners! Give our Retail Food Specialist Siegfried Bressmer a call at 780.425.2133 and get on one of our routes to begin salvaging food and feeding people in need.

Our Gleaning Program includes Retail Food Program and Food Industry Partners. This gleaned food is considered surplus (or waste) for a variety of reasons including packaging changes, damaged exterior packaging, and over shipment or overstocking by the store.

As part of our mission, to glean food for people in need, we partner with retailers to collect surplus food. This food may be considered surplus due to packaging changes, overstock, damaged exterior packaging, or for a variety of other reasons. The Retail Food Program helps Edmonton’s Food Bank redistribute more food and helps us provide a greater variety of food to our clients. This food includes both non-perishable and perishable items, such as fresh produce, bread, packaged nuts, meat and baking ingredients.

The Retail Food Program allows retailers to build relationships in the community while helping Edmontonians who are hungry. It can also help retailers achieve their environmental and Corporate Social Responsibility objectives.
