Our Hamper Programs

Established in 1985 as a means to increase the accessibility of services for individuals and families in need.

Assembled in our main warehouse, a hamper is a box of food that consists of fresh and non-perishable food products, the majority of which are gleaned from the food industry. Each hamper is assembled according to the number of individuals it is intended to feed (i.e. the number of adults, children, and infants in the household) and any dietary requirements our clients may have. Clients can request additional resources such as pet food, school snack items, and toiletries, to be included when available.

Clients may request accommodation for special dietary needs (e.g. if they are celiac, diabetic, vegetarian, can't eat pork, etc.)

Once built our hampers are distributed at an ever-increasing number of food depots throughout Edmonton to ensure accessibility. These food depots are spaced throughout Edmonton and are volunteer run. People requesting a food hamper are directed to the closest depot to their home and the urgency of the situation is also considered.

In addition to our regular food hampers, we provide emergency packs for organizations like Edmonton Police Services.
