About this event
YEG Cake Social PicnicNo cake, no entry. No crumbs, no shame.
Here’s how it works:
You bring:
- One whole, uncut cake (6" round, 5" tall minimum size - but you can do better than that, right?!?)
- No cupcakes, half-cakes, or pre-cut slices—don’t test us.
- A written name + description of your cake, including allergens
- Your ticket
- Your ticket + your whole, uncut cake = entry
We provide:
- An official box to fill with as many slices as you can fit (as long as it closes!)
- A cake cutting and serving utensil for every cake
- Fork and napkins so you can eat cake like the frosting royalty you are
- Indoor venue & positive vibes where all the cakes will be displayed and tables set up around the hall to stay & socialize!
Schedule:
- Arrive anytime after 11:00 AM to check in with your cake, but before noon
- You’ll get a numbered box and your cake will be placed on a table with its info by the YEG Cake Picnic Team
- Grab a seat and wait for all the beautiful cakes to arrive! There will be photo opportunities before we call everyone up in groups to dig in!
- Around 12:15 PM , everyone will be allowed photo opportunities and have chance to browse all of the beautiful cakes! Don't fret - we won't start the main event until everyone has had a chance for photos/browsing!
- Around 12:30 PM ticket holders will be called up in groups (in order!) to load their boxes with cake slices
- Be kind, courteous, and leave some for the groups going after you
Guests
Coming alone? No worries, this is a community social event filled with kindness and everyone is super friendly!
Want to bring a friend or a family member? Go for it—but only the person who brought the cake (the ticket holder) is provided with a box, and turn through the line. They can wait at the table and chairs set up around the hall . Please bring extra forks & napkins for your guest.
Due to capacity restrictions, we ask that you only bring 1 guest (if you would like to bring an extra friend, please email us at yegcakepicnic@gmail.com before purchasing your ticket). If the weather holds up, there is plenty of space outdoors to setup a picnic blanket or chairs and bring more friends or family to enjoy your box of cake slices!
Shang is encouraged, fighting over cake is not.
Bonus points if you complete AHS’s free Safe Food Handling Course before you bake.
