Retail Food Program

Glean
verb: Collect gradually
Historical Gather (leftover grain) after a harvest

As part of our mission to glean food for people in need we partner with retailers to collect surplus food. This food could be considered surplus because of packaging changes, overstock, damaged exterior packaging or for many other reasons. The Retail Food Program helps Edmonton’s Food Bank distribute more food and helps provide a greater variety for clients. This food includes both non-perishable and perishable items such as: hot cereals, bread, packaged nuts, and baking ingredients.

The Retail Food Program allows retailers to build relationships in the community while helping Edmontonians who are hungry. It can also help retailers achieve their environmental and Corporate Social Responsibility objectives.
