Update from Edmonton’s Food Bank – Fort McMurray Evacuee Support

EDMONTON, AB – Edmonton’s Food Bank provides food to over 230 agencies, churches and food depots. Now, working alongside the network of emergency evacuee relief organizations, Edmonton’s Food Bank is prepared to help. Food resources are available to all Edmontonians as well as any evacuee joining us in Edmonton. The organization is also prepared to send shipments up North to the Wood Buffalo Food Bank or other organizations needing food support.

“It can take time to deploy or ensure resources are available during emergencies. Edmonton’s Food Bank has the warehouse and food support that can be deployed immediately if needed,” said Marjorie Bencz, CM, Executive Director of Edmonton’s Food Bank. “We are in this together.”

Edmonton’s Food Bank supported emergency relief during the Slave Lake fires, the High River and Calgary floods, and is prepared to once again help. Donations of food may be left at any major grocery store or fire hall. Monetary donations to the Fort McMurray Fire Evacuee support can be made securely online through our DONATE NOW, CanadaHelps, button on our website at edmontonsfoodbank.com.
