Guru Nanak was the founder and first guru of the Sikh faith, born in 1469. He formalized the three key pillars of Sikhism:
- Kirat Karni (honest living)
- Vand Chakna (sharing with others)
- Naam Japna (focus on God)
On November 26, followers will observe Guru Nanak's 554th birthday. He was an accomplished poet and more than 950 of his hymns are contained in Sikh Scriptures.
